Three NORESCO Projects Honored with 2026 Environment+Energy Leader Awards

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., April 14, 2026 – NORESCO, a leading provider of comprehensive energy solutions, announces that three of its projects won 2026 Environment+Energy Leader Awards in the Energy Innovation category. The annual program recognizes companies delivering measurable progress in energy, sustainability or environmental outcomes. NORESCO shares the honor with Montgomery County Public Schools, the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation and California State University (CSU) Fresno.

“We are honored by the trust our customers place in NORESCO to advance their strategic energy, efficiency and performance results,” said Troy Walters, President and CEO, NORESCO. “Receiving this prestigious recognition allows us to share their stories on an even bigger stage.”

Montgomery County Public Schools, the largest school district in Maryland and the fourteenth largest in the U.S., partnered with NORESCO to implement $20 million in energy and sustainability improvements across 25 schools. This initiative included HVAC modernization, water conservation, LED lighting upgrades, and building envelope improvements. These measures significantly reduce energy use, improve learning environments and position the district to meet ambitious long-term climate and resilience objectives established by school leaders. This project guarantees savings of more than $20 million during the contract term.

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation partnered with NORESCO to deliver a $39 million energy savings performance contract across 49 priority sites on Oahu. The initiative supports the City and County of Honolulu’s Climate Action Plan 2020-2025, all while delivering $94 million in guaranteed savings during the contract term. The focus of the project was community impact, including reopening public swimming pools, keeping island residents informed about the work and protecting sea turtle habitats at beach parks.

CSU Fresno partnered with a consortium led by Meridiam, with NORESCO as the lead contractor and maintenance provider, to develop and implement the first public-private partnership (P3) utility infrastructure project in the CSU system. Modernizing the campus utility plant and distribution network, bundled with energy conservation measures, supports the university’s growth and mission while leveraging value through the P3 model. Campus engagement is central to the program’s success, facilitated through initiatives such as a guest lecture series, internships, and scholarship opportunities.
