Walker Blue Adds Renewable Energy Tax Leader John Kapral as ITC Consultant

Boca Raton, FL - May 5, 2026 - Walker Blue, LLC has added John Kapral, JD, CPA, LLM, as an Investment Tax Credit (ITC) Consultant, further strengthening the firm’s growing bench of technical tax specialists supporting clean energy projects across the United States. His addition reflects Walker Blue’s continued expansion of its ITC capabilities and reinforces the firm’s focus on helping clients navigate increasingly complex project structures, including the growing third-party ownership sector.

Kapral brings more than two decades of experience in specialty tax credits and incentives, including leadership roles at boutique advisory firms and national CPA organizations. Before joining Walker Blue, he served as Lead Principal for CliftonLarsonAllen’s West Coast Federal Tax Incentives & Credits practice, where he led a multi-office specialty team and achieved consistent year-over-year growth during his five-year tenure.

Most recently, Kapral spent four years at Tri-Merit Specialty Tax Consultants, where he developed the concept of a Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC) practice with several colleagues following passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Initially leading this new service line, it quickly proved concept and the practice rapidly expanded by adding management resources and project directors which accelerated growth toward viability, while John continued to serve as a national subject matter expert working with the sales and project teams.

Throughout his career, Kapral has worked across advisory, technical, and business development functions, supporting tax credit monetization, audit-ready documentation, channel partner enablement, and education for CPA firms and commercial clients. His experience also includes developing tax-technical resources and delivering webinars and technical content for audiences across the accounting, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

“Federal renewable energy incentives have rapidly evolved from niche credits into major financing tools for clean energy and electrification projects,” said Kapral. “Walker Blue has been at the forefront of that shift, and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth and best-in-class capabilities in ITC compliance, documentation, and advisory.”

Kapral holds an LLM in Taxation from Boston University School of Law, a JD from Villanova Law School, and a BS in Accounting from Bentley University. He is a licensed CPA and attorney and has also served as a lecturer and instructor in business law and CPA review programs.
