Four Energy Service Companies selected as finalists for Industry-Leading Award in Energy Efficiency and Modernizing Building Infrastructure

The National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO), the leading advocacy and accreditation association representing companies modernizing our nation's building infrastructure, announced four finalists for the NAESCO 2025 Member Award.

The NAESCO Member Award honors the achievements of and recognizes exemplary projects from member companies that show the full potential of public-private partnerships. Efforts recognized by this award include significant or unique savings, innovative project approaches or technology uses, overcoming significant project obstacles, achieving environmental justice goals, and incorporating community development and outreach, among others.

This year’s finalists include:

  • Ameresco for its unique solution to address the unprecedented water demands (0.5 million gallons delivered on a peak day) and energy consumption spike (10.49 million kWh of energy used in 2018) in Summit County, Utah. Ameresco installed Utah’s first floating solar array, overcoming the largest barrier to solar energy construction on the site, which was a lack of adequate ground or rooftop space. This project is one of the first of its kind in the US and one of the largest in the Mountain region.
  • Centrica Business Solutions for its multifaceted approach to implementing a Utility Energy Service Contract (UESC) in partnership with Southern California Edison to enhance operational resilience across 3.4 million acres of Death Valley National Park in Nevada, supporting a diverse mix of facilities – from historic structures to remote residential buildings. The project demonstrates a strong commitment to innovative, sustainable energy solutions capable of overcoming extreme climates. Centrica partnered with NAESCO member companies for this project, including Linmore LED Lighting Labs and Walter's Wholesale Electric.
  • EEI for its strategic approach in supporting Cheshire County’s goal to reduce or eliminate fossil fuel consumption while maintaining fiscal responsibility, mitigating the county’s energy vulnerability as a rural community in New Hampshire. EEI installed renewable wood chip boilers, high-efficiency VRV heat pumps, a cutting-edge six-pipe geothermal heating and cooling system, LED lighting, and integrated all sites into a single, county-wide energy management system, executed through a multi-phase, energy savings performance contract.
  • Opterra for its development of a comprehensive master energy plan grounded in sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and community impact for Broward County, Florida, that aligned with meeting the county’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% from 2007 levels by 2050. The team identified 30 projects across public libraries, parks, transit hubs, and government buildings, with $6 million in upgrades that were launched immediately. The forward-thinking initiative set by the county, executed by Opterra, reduces energy consumption and creates safer, more welcoming public spaces.

The award will be presented at the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) annual meeting, R3 Conference and Innovation Expo, in Las Vegas, NV, November 3rd – 5th.
